Site Conditions for the Laying of Wood FlooringIncluding the sanding and repair of wooden floors.
HEATING A maintained ambient room temperature is vital to the success of the installation approx. 65 degrees is recommended by the manufacturers of these products. It is not critical but it is important, particularly for the first week, that this temperature remains constant.
CONSERVATORIES We do not recommend the use of wood floors in this area but some products may be suitable in certain circumstances. IN WINTER the above is especially important this may require some type of temporary heating which is the customers responsibility to provide and maintain. IN SUMMER during hot periods it may be necessary to ventilate the room and cover the conservatory to provide shade to reduce the temperature to the correct level.
In extreme weather conditions we may have to delay installation until these are within acceptable limits. This may be as short a notice as the day of installation. We cannot cut wood or laminate neat to brick walls, we strongly suggest that skirting boards be fitted.
LIGHTING Adequate level to perform the accurate cutting and laying of the floorcovering.
WATER A supply is needed to mix with various products especially in the preparation stages.
THE AREA ITSELF This must be clear of furniture and appliances, we are NOT authorised or qualified to move, disconnect or reconnect electrical or gas appliances. Access to the area must be limited to our fitting team only due to the restrictions of the various Health and Safety Acts.
SUB FLOOR The initial site survey is limited to what we can have access to. If on starting the work we find problems, below the level we have surveyed, work will be stopped until discussions have been held to arrive at any extra cost.
CABLES We cannot move or resite cables unless these have been pointed out, and agreed at the original site visit/survey.
SANDING We use the most up to date equipment which is fitted with vacuum pumps to reduce the amount of sawdust in the atmosphere. However some will still escape and deposit sawdust in the surrounding areas. This is at the customer’s risk and all delicate furniture and fabrics should be moved away from these areas. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE Various products have different methods of maintenance we will endeavor to supply you with full information on the type of finish that you have on completion of work. However please note that no wooden floor is maintenance free and needs some type of action on a regular basis.
SPECIAL NOTE All wooden floors are a natural breathing product and therefore will show some movement once laid. This may be evident in the form of gaps (shrinking) or cupping (expansion), we will endeavor to minimise the risk of these but cannot guarantee against them.
Samples of wood in the showroom, or on site, are only a representation of colour and quality these can differ from the purchased product, however every step is taken to make sure that they are as similar as possible to your requirements. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any queries on the above points. |
